The Kingdom Of God In a Recession 2009

How should we survive the Recession as a Christian? Well Mathew 6:33 says that we have to seek First the Kingdom of God but lets look at What the Lord says about the things that concern us the most. Food, clothing and ourselves.

Mathew 6:19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

Do Not Worry
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?

28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

When we see this we see Jesus said "Do not even think about it" Well it is pretty hard when the bills are pressing and the bill collectors are calling and the kids are hungary..etc...
We feel responsible to live up to the american over abundance dream. But Jesus said do not worry about your life what you shall eat, drink or wear. Instead Seek His Kingdom first. The next question is if all these things are to be added to me how do I seek the Kingdom of God first. We have to first find out what is the Kingdom of God.

Definition of the Kingdom of God;
Luke 13:18-30

18Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?

19It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

20And again he said, Where unto shall I liken the kingdom of God?

21It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

Jesus took these parables and hid the meaning of it in the story because the Lord loves for us to figure and seek and dig deep into His word.

Let's make a list here of What the Kingdom is compared to and how we should think as christian's so we will know how to act when these hard times may hit us.

The Kingdom of God;

1. First you do not make the Kingdom of God grow.
Mark 4:26
26And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

27And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

28For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

29But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

2. The Kingdom of God is always inside of something...
a.Pearl (inside a shell)
b.The Leaven (inside the dough)
c.Mustard seed (in the ground)

3. The Kingdom of God is made up of Children.
Children are
a. Trusting
2. Dependent
3. Forgiving
4. Happy
5. Not moody
6. Can deal with any situation
7. You have to receive the Kingdom like a child
They are dependent on their parents and believe everything their parents says.

That is why Jesus said it is hard for the rich to enter into the Kingdom of God because the rich are not dependent they are INDEPENDENT and Jesus likes us to be dependent upon him.
Read
Luke 12:20_32

20But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

22And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

23The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

24Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

25And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

26If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?

27Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

28If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

29And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

30For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

31But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

32Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

SOOOOO!!! After reading all this what shall we do in a Recession. We must be as a child who depends on their father to keep us and help us by trusting in His word which says that He will take care of us period!!! Seek after what is important and that is to spread the gospel of the Kingdom of God to everyone and stop thinking by your works you will be able to get your needs met. You may not eat lobster, and you may not wear name brand clothing, and you may live in a small apartment. But your needs will be met. You must do Gods will and seek to tell others about what Jesus said Go tell the people to "Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand" Go preach the Kingdom and lay hands on the sick and cast out demons" stay meditating in Gods word" night and day. You say "HOW"!!! I am struggling. Well pick up your bible and read it and go tell others about it. When you watch a child for instance when I see my children. They do not worry about food or clothing...they go do their chores, they study, they do what I ask and all their needs are met. Now you go do the same Be a child and let the Kingdom of God be a seed that will grow into a tree that can house everyone that will spread every where. Trust the Word of God!!!! Go do what Jesus said no matter how bad you feel. Because His word works!!! You may have to wait, but He said He will never leave you nor forsake you! Let not your faith stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God which is His Gospel and His word.
